In order to read the tiny print of microforms, you'll need to enlarge it using either a microform scanner or reader. You might also want to save or print a copy of the document to read later.
If you need assistance with setting up and scanning the microform, please visit the Research Help desk. For assistance with adding money to your print account or printing, visit the IT Support desk. Both desk are side by side on the first floor of the Murray Library.
How to scan
For a step-by-step guide on setting up and using the ScanPro 3000, please see this document from the College of Wooster.
Here is a good video overview on using the scanner, although our processes for printing and saving are slightly different (see below).
How to save
The login computer and public computer have different default save locations:
- For the login computer, your scans will save to your Cabinet drive, in the My Documents folder.
- On the public computer, the scans will save to a folder on the desktop called "Scans." This folder is emptied regularly, so if you want to keep your scans, please ensure you print them, email a copy of them to yourself, or save them to a flash drive.
How to print
Once you've saved your document, open it and go File - Print. What printers are available depend on if you're using the login computer or the public computer:
- From the login computer: Follow regular CPAS student printing processes.
- From the public computer: Black and white printing costs 10 cents per page or 10 cents per side for double-sided. Select the murry-g6 printer (if it isn't already selected by default). Your document will print to the Library Services desk on the ground floor of the Murray Library. Speak with the staff member at the desk to pay and collect your pages. You can pay by cash, debit, or credit (Visa, Mastercard, and Discover).
