My Library Account: Overview

Details

Your USask library account, called My Library Account, contains six different tabs that provides patrons with different information and actions.

In the article:

Checkouts tab: View and renew items currently checked out

All items that you currently have checked out will show up under the Checkouts tab. Once you renew item(s), a message will be added to each item indicating how many times you have renewed it. Most library items may be renewed twice. Items may be renewed using the Renew button on the right.

Other useful information: Renew Library Items, Renew an Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

Fines tab: View your outstanding fines

All outstanding fines are listed, including a description of the fine and the amount of the fine itself. You cannot pay fines through your library account. See the link to the article below on how you can pay your library fines.

For more information on library fines, including how to pay, please see Library Fines

Holds tab: View and cancel your current holds

All of your current outstanding holds will be listed under the Holds tab. Each hold includes the title and pickup location, and the "cancel if not filled by" date if you filled this out. You may cancel any hold by clicking on the red Cancel Hold button.

Reading History tab: Tracking your checkouts

This tab keeps track of all items you have checked out since opting into Reading History. You must click on the Opt In button to start tracking your checked out items. The tracking of your checkouts does not happen automatically, only if you provide your permission by clicking on Opt In. You can opt out at anytime by clicking on the Opt Out button (the Opt Out button will only appear after you have opted in). Opting out will erase your reading history. If you choose to opt in for a second time, this will not bring back any previous reading history. Your reading history will start new again.

For more information on setting up, or deleting your reading history, see Your Reading History

Research Guides tab: Guides specific to your needs

The library has many subject and topic based research guides. This tab contains always contains at least three links:

  • All Research Guides,
  • Adapt with Integrity guide,
  • and the Citation Style Guides.

If you are registered in courses, this tab also contains a list of subject-specific guides related to your courses.

Borrower Info tab: Details of your USask Library privileges, email, address, and access to e-resources from home

This tab contains a wealth of information, starting with the email and mailing address attached to your library account. Within the email address section, there is a link to My Profile, which allows you to update your contact information without needing to contact the library.

The Patron Type (ptype) section provides your ptype number, which the library uses to define the details of your library services.

The Details section lists your access to library services, loan periods, expiry date, and the maximum number of items you can check out.

The Access to e-resources section describes your access to electronic resources from off-campus.
