Request a Library Book for Pickup

Summary

Request an item to have it held for you to pick up at the library of your choice.

Body

You can request a library item and have it held for you to pick up at the University Library location of your choice. Eligible distance learning students can also request to have library materials mailed to them for free through Distance and Distributed Library Services (DDLS).

Step-by-step

How to request a book for pickup

  1. Search for the item using USearch or the Library Catalogue.
  2. Navigate to the item's catalogue record page. Click on the blue Request Item for Pickup button.
  3. You will be prompted to log in with your NSID and password and to select your preferred pickup location from the drop-down menu: Murray Library, Leslie and Irene Dubé Health Sciences Library, Education and Music Library, Science Library, Law Library, or St. Thomas More Library.
You can also choose Distance Learners to have your items mailed to you, but you must be registered for DDLS in order to do so.
  4. Select Go.
  5. Select the copy of the book or volume of the journal that you need and click Request Selected Item.

You can see your requested holds under the Holds tab in My Library Account. You will receive an email from the University Library letting you know when your item is ready for pickup.

Please allow up to five business days for your request to be filled. If you are requesting an item that is currently loaned out to another person, there may be an additional wait period. We ask that you limit your requests to five items per day to avoid delays.
