submitting Special Topics courses for approval.
Details
Approval and submission -
All special topics courses must be:
Approved by the academic unit (department head)
Submitted to CGPS by completing the
Graduate Course Proposal: SPECIAL TOPICS (898,899) form
Submission to CGPS must occur
prior
to the course offering
The complete course syllabus must be included for all first offerings
Instructor Requirements:
If the proposed instructor is not a member of CGPS, a recent CV must be included
Cross-listed courses:
if undergraduate lectures are included, the undergraduate syllabus must be provided, as well as
information on what additional activities makes the course graduate level
.
Submission deadlines:
August 15: For courses offered Term 1 (September to December)
August 15: For courses offered Term 1 and Term 2 (September to April)
December 1: For courses offered Term 2 (January to April)
April 1: For courses offered for Term 3 (Spring/Summer: May to August)
A Selected Reading or Special Topics Course
can be taught twice
. For subsequent offerings, the course must be regularized according to the procedures outlined for New Course Proposals.
