Details

Approval and submission -  All special topics courses must be:

  1. Approved by the academic unit (department head)
  2. Submitted to CGPS by completing the Graduate Course Proposal: SPECIAL TOPICS (898,899) form
    • Submission to CGPS must occur prior to the course offering 
    • The complete course syllabus must be included for all first offerings 
    • Instructor Requirements: If the proposed instructor is not a member of CGPS, a recent CV must be included
    • Cross-listed courses: if undergraduate lectures are included, the undergraduate syllabus must be provided, as well as information on what additional activities makes the course graduate level.

Submission deadlines: 

  • August 15: For courses offered Term 1 (September to December) 
  • August 15: For courses offered Term 1 and Term 2 (September to April)
  • December 1: For courses offered Term 2 (January to April)
  • April 1: For courses offered for Term 3 (Spring/Summer: May to August)
