Network Services ID (NSID): Services Eligibility

Details

Depending on your role, your NSID provides you with access to a variety of services including, but not limited to:

  • MyProfile.usask.ca (to manage your account)
  • PAWS (channel access based on your role)
  • E-mail (Office365)
  • University Password-protected Webpages
  • Computer Access/Public Computers in the Learning Commons, the Arts Tunnel and Student Central
  • Wireless network access

Students

When you first apply to become a student at https://apply.usask.ca, you will first request to create an account. You will then need to verify your request which is sent to your email account. These credentials are limited to the application process.

Once you submit an application for admission, you will be sent your NSID/account information and temporary password via email. While access to services for new applicants is limited, you will gain access to additional services like a USask email account and more channels in PAWS following admission (admission process can take days to weeks).

While you will continue to use your USask admissions portal credentials to manage your application for admission, you can start using your NSID and password to access PAWS, where you can apply to live in Residence, learn about scholarships and bursaries, and more.

Instructors, Researchers and Employees

  • You will be provided with your NSID and a password recovery option once you start working.
  • If your NSID has not been completed on your start date, your department can request it. Please speak with your Department Assistant to submit a request to IT Support Services.

Alumni

If you are a USask Alumni who graduated prior to 2001, you will not have been assigned an NSID. You can contact Alumni Relations to obtain one.

If you graduated after 2001 but don’t know your NSID, you can contact Alumni Relations to find out what it is.

Retirees and Emeriti

Retirees and Emeriti are eligible for service packages. Please refer to Retiree and Emeritus Services.

Others

Off-campus clients, research collaborators, and organizations may be eligible for an NSID depending on their relationship with the university.

A request must come directly from a department; departments can submit a ticket request.
