Step-by-step

Academic units planning to terminate a program must complete a Report form for Program Termination.

Approval Pathway

  1. Academic unit, including the relevant college faculty council or equivalent (as applicable)
  2. CGPS Graduate Programs Committee (GPC)
  3. Academic Programs Committee of Council (APC)
  4. University Council

Submission to CGPS and university-level committees

  1. CGPS: Complete a Major Program Change form and attach the report form for program termination.
  2. APC: Upon approval by the Graduate Programs Committee, the proposal to terminate the program will be put forward by CGPS, recommending that APC approves the termination. APC will require proponents from the sponsoring units (academic unit and CGPS) to attend the committee meeting to answer questions.
  3. University Council: APC will put forward the final recommendation to terminate the program to University Council. It is recommended that proponents from the sponsoring units attend the relevant University Council meeting.
