Theses at USask
All masters' and doctoral theses accepted by the University of Saskatchewan since 1912 can be found through the University Library. There are two main ways to find USask theses: through USask's institutional repository, HARVEST, and through the library catalogue.
Finding Theses on HARVEST
HARVEST holds all University of Saskatchewan electronic theses and dissertations published since 2005. More than 1400 print theses published before 2005 have been digitized and added to the collection as well. You can browse the repository by thesis title, subject, author or issue date.
Finding Theses in the Library Catalogue
To find print theses at USask, start at the library homepage and click the Books tab. From there, you can click on the Library Catalogue link underneath the search box.
Once in the library catalogue, you can click the drop down menu on the left hand side of the screen to select which field you would like to search. Select "Word" to search by keywords, "Title" to search by title, or "Author" to search by author.
On the right hand menu, select "Theses Collection". Click on the green button to search.
Once you click on a result, the item record provides you with many details of the thesis/dissertation. The Location field indicates which library the thesis is located in, and the Call # indicates the physical location assigned to a print copy of a thesis. If the thesis is available as an e-thesis you will see the phrase "Electronic Thesis" rather than a location and call number. You can click on "Connect to view the document" to open the thesis itself in a new window.
You can request a scan of a print thesis by clicking the blue Request Chapter/Article Scan button towards the top of the page. Alternatively, you can visit the University Archives and Special Collections to view the thesis in person. Please request the thesis in advance by calling 306-966-6029 or emailing ua.sc@usask.ca.
