Encyclopedias are often a great resource when beginning research as they provide summarized overviews, important concepts and terminology. Some are available in print and some are available electronically. Here are three ways to search for encyclopedias in the USask Library.
Search in USearch
When searching for an encyclopedia for a specific subject, you can use USearch to combine your terms. For example, if you need to find an encyclopedia for the subject of psychology, enter 'encyclopedia AND psychology.'
Subject Search in Catalogue
When searching for an encyclopedia using the library catalogue, choose 'subject' from the search drop-down menu and enter your search terms in this format: subject - encyclopedia.' For example: health - encyclopedia
Database Search
The USask Library subscribes to a variety of online encyclopedias which are accessible through the A-Z database list. One way to search for them is to select 'Encyclopedia' from the 'Types' drop-down menu, click 'Search,' then scroll through the results.
